Waltham Chase News Update

(There is some interesting “stuff” nearer the bottom of the page)

A Happy New Year to all of our members as we  start another sporting year.

We have 22 Trials scheduled for 2026 and will add “Practice Days”, subject to  members demand.

There are also a couple of Camping Weekends to look forward to at Cadno, where you can camp for up to five days and ride in two Trials. (Campervans, Mo-ho’s ,Caravans as well as tents are welcome)

Our big social event of the year, the Awards Presentation, is being held on February 7th. To be honest the awards get in the way – is more of a party night. Dry January should be over by then!

All members are very welcome to join us for the evening, but there are now limited places available; to book tickets go to the link: https://acu.sport80.com/public/wizard/e/206589

Practice Day

Our next Hut Hill Practice Day is being held on Saturday 17th January.

The venue will be open from 10.00 through to 2.30pm.

Entry is via the link: https://acu.sport80.com/public/wizard/e/206727

Club Coach, Ian Bird, will be on site to offer advice to new members.

One event licences are available for non-members.

Debs Food Truck will be on site to make it a great day out; a chat and a burger can be a better experience than riding.

If you have any issues entering online please contact the Club via email: walthamchasetrials@outlook.com

Round 1 of the 2026 Club Championship

Our first Club trial of 2026, Round 1 of the Club Championship, is being held at Hut Hill on Sunday 25th January.

The entry is open on Sport80 via the link: https://acu.sport80.com/public/wizard/e/206573

A reminder that all Hut Hill Trials are capped at around 80 riders due to parking restrictions. Debs Food Truck is confirmed.

Offers to Observe are as always appreciated, with the usual £20.00 paid to volunteers. Please email walthamchasetrials@outlook.com if you can help.

Club Technical Officials

Waltham Chase MCC would like to recruit three additional “Technical Officials” to fill vacancies.

All ACU clubs are required to appoint a licensed Technical Official at their events. The appointed official is responsible for carrying out technical inspections, including but not limited to:

  • Random machine inspections as directed by the Clerk of the Course
  • Inspections in the event of a protest regarding machine eligibility
  • Helmet and safety inspections

There has been insufficient interest to run an “Off Road Technical Seminar” locally however

the ACU Off Road Technical Panel have organised two Off-Road Technical Seminars for Regional Officials.

The seminars will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 13 January 2026 at 19:00
  • Thursday 12 February 2026 at 19:00

Please advise by email to acusoutherncentre@outlook.com if you would like to join the seminar.

The qualification is transferable to any ACU Affiliated Club.

Qualified Officials would be invited to provide their services at Waltham Chase events.

First Aid Training Course

Two additional places are now available for Waltham Chase Members on an ACU funded certificated First Aid Course being held in Otterbourne on Saturday February 14th – the date rings a bell for some reason, but I can’t remember why.

The session is planned to cover situations that may occur at our events, including the use of a defibrillator.

Please contact walthamchasetrials@outlook.com if you would like to be considered for a place.

Priority will be given to Club Members or Observers who regularly attend Southern Centre Trials.

If there is sufficient demand we may plan another session later in the year.
